Overview
Registered in 1988 by M. Zilis and T&Z Nursery, this small hosta is a sport of *Hosta* 'Honeybells'. It is visually distinctive for its green leaves with white to greenish-white undulated margins, a compact habit, and pale flowers borne on scapes reaching 32 inches (81.3 cm) in height.
In the Garden
'Whipped Cream' forms a dense, mounding clump 14 inches (35.6 cm) tall and 25 inches (63.5 cm) in diameter, making it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or as edging. It performs best in partial to full shade, with leaves holding their variegation better in cooler conditions. Companion plants include ferns, heucheras, and small woodland perennials; its small size also suits container cultivation.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even moisture, especially during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs may damage foliage; deer occasionally browse the leaves, though the plant is not a preferred target.
