Overview
Registered in 2011 by M. Zilis, *Hosta* 'Wedding Night' is a small sport of *H. 'Bridegroom'* that presents a heavily streaked leaf surface combining green, yellow, and white tones against creamy white margins. This variegated form is distinguished from its solid-green parent by its irregular, streaked coloration and slightly rippled leaf margins.
In the Garden
'Wedding Night' forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its small stature makes it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. The ovate leaves with rounded bases and distinct tips, measuring 5 inches (12.7 cm) long and 3.5 inches (8.9 cm) wide, provide textural contrast when paired with fine-leaved perennials such as ferns or heucheras.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar may be browsed by deer and is susceptible to slug damage, especially in shaded, moist conditions.
