Hosta ‘Watermark’ is a registered cultivar () .

Year registered2005
Section classIII-8

Overview

Registered in 2005, *Hosta* 'Watermark' is a sport of an unnamed parent, notable for its green leaves with gold margins and a distinctive darker green band that separates the leaf center from the margin, a pattern similar to *H. 'Tattoo'* but on a larger leaf. This medium-sized cultivar produces broadly ovate, moderately corrugated leaves with dull surfaces and slightly rippled margins.

In the Garden

'Watermark' forms a mound-like clump reaching 40.6 inches (103.1 cm) in diameter and 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height, with a fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shaded beds.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, protect from slugs and deer, which may damage the foliage.
