Overview
Registered in 2009 by K. Walek of the American Hosta Society, 'Warwick Sheen' is a medium-sized hosta resulting from a cross between *H.* 'Christmas Tree' and *H.* 'Leather Sheen'. It is visually distinctive for its ovate, dark green leaves with creamy white margins that often streak into the leaf center, and for its dull leaf surface.
In the Garden
'Warwick Sheen' forms a mound-like clump with leaves reaching 23.5 cm (9.25 in) in length and 9.2 cm (3.63 in) in width. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its variegation remains most stable. This medium-sized hosta pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials; it is not typically suited for containers due to its mature size.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
