Hosta ‘Vivid’ is a registered cultivar () .

Year registered2005
Section classI-7

Overview

Registered in 2005 as a seedling of *Hosta* 'William Lachman' with unknown pollen parent, 'Vivid' is a giant hosta distinguished by its large, heavily rippled, glaucous ovate leaves displaying complex multicolor streaking in blue-green, green, yellow, and creamy white. The leaf margins are heavily rippled and creamy white, while the blade surfaces show a slight shine above with a glaucous bloom beneath.

In the Garden

'Vivid' reaches 28 inches (71.1 cm) in height and 32 inches (81.3 cm) in diameter at maturity, with an upright, moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-green hostas, where its glaucous leaf coloration and variegation are most pronounced. The tall scapes, reaching 35 to 43 inches (88.9 to 109.2 cm), make it suitable for mid-border or specimen placement in woodland gardens.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in hot weather, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Vivid' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, though its heavily corrugated leaf texture may offer some resistance.
