Overview

Registered in 1986 by A. Viette and the American Hosta Society, *Hosta* 'Viette's Yellow Edge' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinguished by its dark green leaves with gold margins, a color pattern that emerges in spring and persists through the growing season.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a dense, mounding clump reaching approximately 21 inches (53.3 cm) in height and 51 inches (129.5 cm) in diameter. Its leaves measure 8.5 inches (21.6 cm) long by 6 inches (15.2 cm) wide, with 9 to 10 pairs of veins. The gold margins are most pronounced in morning sun or dappled light; deeper shade may reduce margin brightness. Suitable for borders, woodland edges, or as a groundcover in typical hosta-growing zones. Pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Plant in well-drained, organic-rich soil and water regularly to establish. Fertilize in early spring as growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor and manage as needed.
