Overview

Registered in 2008, *Hosta* 'Valley's Small Change' is a miniature cultivar derived from *H. pulchella* as the pod parent. It is distinguished by its very small, ovate leaves with medium green, slightly rippled margins and a pronounced glossy upper surface, forming a compact, low mound.

In the Garden

This miniature hosta reaches approximately 3 inches in height and 4 inches in diameter at maturity, making it suitable for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of a shaded border. It performs best in partial to full shade and pairs well with other small woodland perennials such as miniature ferns or *Heuchera*. Its modest size and moderate growth rate also make it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in containers, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, though its thick leaves offer some resistance.
