Overview

Registered in 2015, *Hosta* 'Valley's Pavlova' is a small, upright cultivar derived from a *H. pycnophylla* seedling crossed with *H.* 'Tequila Sunrise'. It is visually distinctive for its lance-shaped, deeply wavy leaves with yellow, heavily rippled margins, purple petioles whose coloration extends into the leaf veins, and white leaf undersides.

In the Garden

With a mature diameter of approximately 14 inches (35 cm) and height of 12 inches (30 cm), 'Valley's Pavlova' is suited to the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical for gold-margined hostas, and its moderate growth rate and upright habit make it a tidy accent among small ferns, heucheras, or dwarf sedges.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season; apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring. As with many small hostas, monitor for slug damage and protect from deer in areas where browsing is common.
