Overview

Registered in 2009, *Hosta* 'Valley's Dancing Water' is a small-sized cultivar derived from *H. kikutii* as the pod parent, with an unknown pollen parent. The plant is visually distinctive for its lanceolate, blue-green leaves with deeply wavy, heavily rippled margins, a very shiny upper surface, and a powdery white glaucous bloom on the underside.

In the Garden

This cultivar reaches a mature spread of approximately 24 inches (60 cm) and a height of 16 inches (40 cm), with an upright growth habit and moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and is well-suited for rock gardens, woodland borders, or container cultivation due to its compact size. The wavy, shiny foliage provides textural contrast when paired with finer-leaved perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, protect from deer and monitor for slug damage, which can disfigure the wavy leaf margins.
