Overview

Registered in 2015, *Hosta* 'Valley's Crazy Diamonds' is a small-sized cultivar of unknown pollen parentage, with *H. 'Tsuma Tajima'* as the pod parent. Its most distinctive feature is the heavily streaked foliage, where green, yellow, and white variegation appears on the leaf blade, accompanied by white margins that are slightly rippled.

In the Garden

'Valley's Crazy Diamonds' forms a compact, upright clump reaching approximately 12 inches (30 cm) in height and 16 inches (40 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its small stature makes it well-suited for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. Companion plantings of small ferns or shade-tolerant groundcovers such as *Tiarella* or *Heucherella* complement its variegated foliage.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in dry spells, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor regularly and apply controls as needed.
