Overview

Registered in 2010, *Hosta* 'Valley's Blue Print' is a medium-sized cultivar resulting from a cross between *Hosta* 'Valley's Vanilla Sticks' (seed parent) and *Hosta* 'Sky Dancer' (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its intensely blue-green, heavily wavy leaves with flat margins, a slightly shiny upper surface, and notably white leaf undersides.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a compact, upright clump reaching approximately 14 inches (35 cm) in diameter and 10 inches (25 cm) in height, with a fast growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-leaved hostas, where the intense blue coloration is best preserved. Its medium size and upright habit make it suitable for the middle of a shaded border or as a specimen in a woodland garden; it pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, especially during dry periods. Fertilize in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so appropriate deterrents may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
