Overview
Registered in 2004 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Tattoo', 'Va Va Voom' is a small hosta cultivar distinguished by its nearly round leaves with a yellow center and a wide, flat, dark green margin. The leaf surface is slightly shiny above and dull beneath, with nine pairs of veins; the green margin measures approximately 1.13 inches (2.9 cm) wide.
In the Garden
With a mature height of 6 inches (15.2 cm) and a spread of 12 inches (30.5 cm), 'Va Va Voom' forms a compact, mound-like clump with a moderate growth rate. It is suitable for the front of a border, rock gardens, or container culture, and performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for small hostas. Its round leaves and contrasting coloration pair well with fine-textured shade perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain even soil moisture, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Va Va Voom' may be susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
