Overview

Registered in 1987 by the American Hosta Society, 'Undulata Albomarginata' is a medium-sized hosta cultivar of unknown parentage. It is distinguished by its dark green leaves with creamy white margins, a color pattern that remains stable throughout the growing season.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a dense clump reaching 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter and 17 inches (43.2 cm) in height, with scapes rising 31 to 45 inches (78.7 to 114.3 cm) above the foliage. It performs best in partial to full shade, where the white margins remain crisp and the green centers do not scorch. Suitable for borders, woodland gardens, or as a groundcover in shaded areas; its medium size makes it appropriate for mixed perennial beds.

Care Notes

Water regularly during dry periods to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly in warmer climates. Fertilize in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
