Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Fortunei Hyacinthina' registered in 2009 by K. Walek, 'Sweet Dreams' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by blue-green leaves with white to greenish-white margins. The foliage is dull on the upper surface with a glaucous bloom beneath, lightly cupped, and cordate at the base, measuring 7 inches (17.8 cm) long by 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) wide with 7 to 9 vein pairs.
In the Garden
'Sweet Dreams' forms a mound-like clump suitable for partial to full shade, typical of most hostas. At maturity, plants reach approximately 20 to 25 inches (50.8–63.5 cm) in scape height with a comparable spread, making them appropriate for mid-border positions or as ground cover beneath deciduous trees. Companion plants include ferns, *Heuchera*, and shade-tolerant *Geranium* species.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Sweet Dreams' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, requiring protective measures in areas where these pests are prevalent.
