Overview
Registered in 2004, this medium-sized hosta cultivar resulted from a cross between a *Hosta* 'Neat Splash' seedling (pod parent) and *Hosta* 'Love Pat' (pollen parent). The cultivar is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaves with unstable streaks of golden yellow and creamy white flat margins, combined with a moderately cupped and corrugated leaf surface.
In the Garden
'Sweet Diversion' forms an upright clump reaching 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter and 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height, with a slow growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-green hostas, where the leaf coloration remains stable. The upright habit and textured foliage make it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen among ferns, heucheras, or other shade perennials.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, this cultivar is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
