Overview

Registered in 2009 by K. Walek for the American Hosta Society, *Hosta* 'Sweet Bo Peep' is a selfed selection of *H.* 'Invincible'. This small, mound-forming cultivar is distinguished by its ovate, deeply corrugated leaves with dark green, slightly rippled margins and a shiny upper surface, borne on a compact plant that reaches 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height and 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter.

In the Garden

'Sweet Bo Peep' performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its small stature makes it well-suited for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container culture. Mature plants form a dense, rounded clump approximately 3.3 feet (1 m) wide, with scapes rising 28 to 34 inches (71.1 to 86.4 cm) above the foliage. It pairs effectively with other small perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*, and its compact habit allows for placement in troughs or small pots.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, avoiding waterlogged soil, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring. As with most hostas, protect from deer and monitor for slug damage, particularly on the corrugated leaves.
