Overview
Registered in 2004, 'Sweet and Low' is a miniature hosta of unknown pollen parentage, arising from a *Hosta* 'Dorothy Benedict' F-1 seedling. It is visually distinctive for its small, blue-green leaves with gold margins and unstable streaks of varying yellow shades, a rare color combination in the miniature size class.
In the Garden
Reaching approximately 8 inches (20 cm) in diameter and 5.5 inches (14 cm) in height, 'Sweet and Low' is suitable for the front of a border, rock gardens, or trough plantings. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, and its compact size makes it an excellent candidate for container culture. Pair with fine-textured shade companions such as small ferns or *Heuchera* cultivars.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. As a miniature with relatively thin leaves, it may be susceptible to slug damage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
