Overview
A sport of *Hosta* 'Golden Tiara' registered in 2006, 'Sunny Tiara' is a small, fast-growing cultivar distinguished by its green leaf centers and greenish-yellow, slightly rippled margins. The broadly ovate leaves with rounded bases and wavy edges form a dense, mound-like plant reaching 14 inches (35.6 cm) in height and 20 inches (50.8 cm) in diameter.
In the Garden
This compact hosta performs best in partial to full shade, where its gold-edged foliage brightens woodland borders, rock gardens, or the front of shaded beds. At maturity, the plant spreads to about 20 inches wide, making it suitable for small spaces or container cultivation. It pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials of similar scale.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during dry periods, particularly in the first growing season. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Sunny Tiara' may be browsed by deer and is susceptible to slug damage in damp conditions.
