Overview

Registered in 2003 as a sport of *Hosta* 'Sweet Sunshine', 'Sun Kissed' is a small-sized cultivar distinguished by its deeply cupped, intensely corrugated, nearly round leaves with greenish-yellow centers and wide, pure white, flat margins. The leaf blades measure 5.5 inches (14.0 cm) long by 5 inches (12.7 cm) wide, with 9 to 10 vein pairs, and exhibit a slightly shiny surface on both sides.

In the Garden

Reaching a mature height of 14 inches (35.6 cm) with a spread of 28 inches (71.1 cm), 'Sun Kissed' forms a dense, mound-like clump with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, where the white margins remain crisp and the gold centers hold their color without scorching. This compact size makes it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings, and it pairs well with smaller ferns, heucheras, or shade-tolerant groundcovers.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Sun Kissed' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
