Overview
Registered in 2004, *Hosta* 'Streaking Frenzy' is a large, upright cultivar derived from a self-pollinated seedling of *Hosta* 'Dorothy Benedict'. Its most distinctive feature is the unstable streaking of varying shades of yellow across the blue-green leaf surface, set against gold margins, with deeply corrugated and moderately cupped foliage of good substance.
In the Garden
'Streaking Frenzy' reaches a mature size of 32 inches (81.3 cm) in diameter and 23 inches (58.4 cm) in height, with an upright growth habit and slow growth rate. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical of most hostas, where the blue-green leaf color and gold margins are most stable. Its large, heavily textured leaves make it a suitable specimen for the middle to back of a shaded border, and it pairs well with ferns or other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. The thick, corrugated leaves offer good slug and deer resistance compared to thinner-leaved cultivars.
