Overview
Registered in 2009 from unknown parentage, *Hosta* 'Streaking Buck Naked' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by dark green leaves with irregular yellow streaking and gold margins. The broadly ovate, lightly cupped leaves measure 7 inches long by 4.5 inches wide, with 7 to 8 vein pairs and slightly rippled, shiny upper surfaces.
In the Garden
This mound-forming hosta reaches 15 inches in diameter and 30 inches in height at maturity, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. The green scapes, reaching 18 to 28 inches, bear lavender flowers in midsummer.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during dry periods and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and apply controls as needed.
