Overview
Registered in 2009, *Hosta* 'Streaker Heaven' is a giant cultivar resulting from a cross between *H.* 'Fudge Ripple' (pod parent) and an *H.* 'Elatior' seedling (pollen parent). Its most distinctive feature is the medium blue-green leaf surface with yellow streaking that extends into the slightly rippled, gold margins, creating a variegated pattern that is unusual for a plant of this size class.
In the Garden
'Streaker Heaven' forms a substantial mound reaching 54 inches (137.2 cm) in diameter and 23.5 inches (59.7 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, where the blue-green leaf coloration is most pronounced. The large, broadly ovate leaves with cordate bases—measuring 13.75 inches (34.9 cm) long by 9.5 inches (24.1 cm) wide—exhibit moderate folding and waviness, with light twisting and corrugation, contributing to an interesting clump form. This cultivar pairs well with other bold-textured shade perennials such as ferns or astilbes, and its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen or in the middle to back of a shaded border.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through standard control methods in typical hosta-growing zones.
