Overview
Registered in 2004, *Hosta* 'Stormy Weather' is a large, mound-forming cultivar of unknown pollen parentage, with *H.* 'Holly's Honey' as its pod parent. It is visually distinctive for its broadly ovate, medium green leaves with slightly rippled margins, a dull upper surface, and a subtle sheen beneath; the leaf blade characteristically folds back, causing the midrib to project upward.
In the Garden
'Stormy Weather' reaches a mature spread of approximately 40 inches (101.6 cm) and a height of 20 inches (50.8 cm), forming a dense, moderate-growing mound. It performs best in partial to full shade, as typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its large size makes it suitable as a specimen or mid-border accent, but it is not ideal for small containers.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as both pests may damage the foliage.
