Overview

Registered in 1989 by D. Stone, Piedmont Gardens, and P. Ruh, *Hosta* 'Stone's Valentine' is a miniature cultivar of unknown parentage. It is distinguished by its small, cordate green leaves with yellow-green margins, forming a compact mound 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) tall and 9 inches (22.9 cm) in diameter.

In the Garden

'Stone's Valentine' performs best in partial to dappled shade, typical of most hostas, and reaches a mature spread of approximately 9 inches (22.9 cm) with a height of 4.5 inches (11.4 cm). Its diminutive size makes it well suited for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders, where it can be paired with other small perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*. The cultivar also adapts readily to container culture.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
