Overview

Registered in 1978 by P. Aden, this medium-sized cultivar resulted from a cross between *Hosta* 'Yellow Splash' (pod parent) and *Hosta* 'Neat Splash' (pollen parent). 'Squiggles' is distinguished by its green leaves with white margins, a color pattern inherited from its parentage, and its compact, mounded growth habit.

In the Garden

'Squiggles' reaches approximately 14 inches (35.6 cm) in diameter and 12 inches (30.5 cm) in height at maturity, making it suitable for the middle to front of a shaded border. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for most hostas, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its medium size also allows for use in containers or as a groundcover in small garden spaces.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Squiggles' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and apply controls as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
