Overview
Registered in 2016, *Hosta* 'Sir Adam' is a large, fast-growing cultivar derived from a cross between *H. 'Sagae'* (pod parent) and *H. 'Sea Gulf Stream'* (pollen parent). It is visually distinguished by its upright habit, broadly ovate green leaves with heavily rippled, golden yellow margins, and a lightly corrugated leaf surface.
In the Garden
'Sir Adam' reaches a mature size of approximately 24 inches (61 cm) in height and 28 inches (71 cm) in diameter, with scapes extending 36 to 40 inches (91 to 102 cm) above the foliage. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its upright form makes it suitable for mid-border or as a specimen in woodland gardens. The bold leaf coloration pairs well with finer-textured shade perennials such as ferns or *Heuchera*.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture, especially during dry periods. Fertilize in early spring as growth emerges. While not notably resistant, standard slug and deer deterrents may be necessary in areas where these pests are common.
