Registered in 2011, *Hosta* 'Si Senor Pablo' is a large cultivar of unknown pollen parentage, with *H.* 'Midnight Rider' as the pod parent. Its distinguishing feature is a nearly round, heavily cupped leaf with very dark green margins and a very shiny upper surface, contrasting with a slightly shiny underside.

In the Garden

This cultivar reaches 14 inches (35.6 cm) in height and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter at maturity, with an upright growth habit and moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen or in mixed borders with other shade-tolerant perennials such as ferns or heucheras. The dark green margins and cupped form provide textural contrast in the landscape.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as with most hosta cultivars.
