Overview

Registered in 2004 by D. Savory, this medium-sized variegated cultivar resulted from a cross using *Hosta* 'Tokudama' as the pod parent with an unknown pollen parent. The foliage is distinguished by a heavily pebbled or seersuckered texture, with dark green margins framing a lighter leaf center.

In the Garden

'Hosta Seersucker' performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, where its textured leaves are most visible. Mature plants reach a medium size, with individual leaves measuring 7.5 inches (19.1 cm) long and 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) wide. It pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials that contrast with its bold, puckered foliage.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
