Overview

Registered in 1986 by A. Summers and the American Hosta Society, 'See Saw' is a small hosta cultivar originating as a sport of *Hosta* 'Undulata Erromena'. It is visually distinctive for its medium dark green leaves with white margins and small undulations along the leaf edges, creating a crisp variegated effect.

In the Garden

'See Saw' reaches a mature diameter of 40 inches (101.6 cm) and a height of 18 inches (45.7 cm), forming a compact, rounded clump suitable for the front of a border or as edging. It performs best in partial to full shade, where its white-margined foliage remains most vibrant, and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its small size also makes it an excellent candidate for container cultivation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may feed on the foliage; monitor regularly and use barriers or repellents as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
