Overview
Registered in 1999, 'Sea White Gold' is a large hosta cultivar of unknown parentage distinguished by its green leaves with creamy golden yellow margins. The foliage presents a slightly rippled margin, a cordate base, and a slightly shiny surface on both sides.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a substantial mound 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in height, making it suitable as a specimen or mid-border accent in partial to full shade. Its large, prominently variegated leaves pair well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade-tolerant perennials that contrast in texture or color. The greenish gold scapes, reaching 24 to 28 inches (61.0 to 71.1 cm), carry flowers above the foliage.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, 'Sea White Gold' is susceptible to slug and deer damage in typical hosta-growing zones.
