Overview
Registered in 1982 by M. Seaver, this small hosta arose as a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Neat Splash'. It is visually distinctive for its green-streaked leaf margins and compact, low-growing habit, reaching only 4 inches (10.2 cm) in height with a spread of 10 inches (25.4 cm). The leaves are 8 inches (20.3 cm) long and 3 inches (7.6 cm) wide, with five pairs of veins.
In the Garden
*Hosta* 'Sea Sunrise' is suitable for partial to full shade, typical of hosta-growing zones. Its small size makes it ideal for the front of borders, rock gardens, or as a container specimen. It pairs well with other small shade perennials such as ferns, heucheras, or miniature hostas.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may damage foliage, so monitor and manage as needed.
