Overview

Registered in 1985 by M. Seaver, this large hosta cultivar is a hybrid of *Hosta* 'Wagon Wheels'. It is distinguished by its broad, variegated leaves with green margins and a lighter center, borne on plants reaching 19 inches (48.3 cm) in height and 24 inches (61.0 cm) in diameter.

In the Garden

'Sea Lotus Leaf' performs best in partial to full shade, where its variegated foliage remains most consistent. At maturity, it forms a substantial clump suitable for mid-border or as a specimen in shaded beds. Its large, rounded leaves pair well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. The plant produces scapes 14 to 18 inches (35.6 to 45.7 cm) tall, bearing lavender flowers in midsummer.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor and manage as needed.
