Overview
Registered in 1985 by M. Seaver, *Hosta* 'Sea Gold' is a medium-sized cultivar derived from a hybrid of *H.* 'Ledi Lantis'. It is visually distinctive for its green leaves with deep bright yellow margins that exhibit slight undulations.
In the Garden
'Sea Gold' reaches a mature height of 12 inches (30.5 cm) and a spread of 16 inches (40.6 cm), making it suitable for the middle of a shaded border or as a specimen in a woodland garden. It thrives in partial to full shade and pairs well with ferns, astilbes, or other shade-tolerant perennials. Its compact dimensions also allow for container cultivation.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as with most hostas.
