Overview

Registered in 2009 by an unknown hybridizer, *Hosta* 'Saturday Night Fever' is a large cultivar distinguished by its heavily rippled, greenish-yellow leaf margins. The ovate, cordate-based leaves are green with a broad, wavy gold border, and the leaf surface is dull on both sides. The plant is notable for its pronounced, rippled leaf edge, a feature that gives the foliage a textured appearance.

In the Garden

This hosta forms a mound-like clump reaching approximately 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter and 19 inches (48.3 cm) in height, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for gold-margined cultivars, which may scorch in excessive sun. The large, textured leaves pair well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials that contrast in form or color. Its substantial size makes it suitable as a specimen or in the middle to back of a shaded border.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; regular monitoring and control measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
