Overview
Registered in 2015, *Hosta* 'Sandra' is a medium-sized cultivar of unknown parentage. It is visually distinctive for its dark green, slightly shiny leaves with variable creamy white margins, broadly ovate shape with twisted tips, and prominent veining (13 vein pairs per leaf).
In the Garden
'Sandra' forms an upright, moderate-growing clump reaching 19 inches (48.3 cm) in height and 35 inches (88.9 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its medium size makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shaded beds. The dark green leaves with white margins pair well with ferns, astilbes, or other shade-tolerant perennials that contrast in texture or color.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Sandra' may be susceptible to slug and deer damage in garden settings.
