Overview
Registered in 2009 by K. Walek (AHS), this medium-sized cultivar resulted from crossing *Hosta* 'Reversed' as pod parent with *H. montana* as pollen parent. 'Sand Pebbles' is visually distinctive for its ovate, deeply corrugated leaves with medium green centers streaked into golden yellow margins, creating a mottled or pebbled appearance.
In the Garden
'Sand Pebbles' forms a semi-upright clump reaching approximately 14 inches (35.6 cm) in height and 35 inches (88.9 cm) in diameter. It performs best in partial to dappled shade, as is typical for hostas with variegated foliage. The medium size and textured leaves make it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in shade gardens, pairing well with ferns, heucheras, and other woodland perennials.
Care Notes
Water regularly during dry periods to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly in warmer climates. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Sand Pebbles' may require protection from slugs and deer in garden settings.
