Overview

Registered in 2009, 'Saketini' is a small hosta cultivar derived from a golden yellow sport of *Hosta* 'Blue Dimples' crossed with *Hosta* 'Shining Tot'. Its most distinctive feature is an unusual leaf coloration: blue-green centers with pale yellow-green margins, a combination that can be difficult to characterize precisely.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a compact, fast-growing mound reaching 9 inches (22.9 cm) in height and 20 inches (50.8 cm) in diameter. Its small size and ovate, lightly wavy leaves with glaucous undersides make it suitable for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders. It performs best in partial to full shade and pairs well with other small hostas, ferns, or woodland perennials. The closed flower form adds a subtle textural contrast in late summer.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, 'Saketini' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and apply controls as needed. It thrives in typical hosta-growing zones with adequate organic matter in the soil.
