Overview

Registered in 2000, *Hosta* 'Sadi' is a medium-sized hybrid derived from *H.* 'Birchwood Parky's Gold' (pod parent) and *H.* 'Love Pat' (pollen parent). The cultivar is visually distinguished by its blue-green leaves with golden yellow, slightly rippled margins and a heavy glaucous bloom on both leaf surfaces.

In the Garden

'Sadi' forms a dense mound reaching 16 inches (40.6 cm) in height and 40 inches (101.6 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, where the blue-green leaf color remains truest. The substantial leaf size and contrasting margins make it suitable as a specimen or in mixed shade borders with ferns, heucheras, and other medium-sized hostas.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, particularly in warmer climates, and apply a balanced slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most blue-leaved hostas, 'Sadi' may be susceptible to slug and deer damage in garden settings.
