Overview
Registered in 2009, *Hosta* 'Rostraver Heritage' is a large, blue-green cultivar of seedling parentage notable for its very large clump size, upright flower scapes, and high fertility. Its broadly ovate, moderately cupped leaves display a very shiny upper surface and a dull, glaucous bloom beneath, with medium green, slightly rippled margins and moderate corrugation.
In the Garden
This cultivar forms a substantial clump reaching 52 inches (132.1 cm) in diameter and 22 inches (55.9 cm) in height, with an upright growth habit and moderate growth rate. It performs well in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and its large, textured leaves make it a suitable specimen or background plant in woodland gardens and mixed borders. The upright scapes, 30 to 40 inches (76.2 to 101.6 cm) tall, bear fertile flowers and complement companions such as ferns, astilbes, or other shade-tolerant perennials.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. This cultivar demonstrates resistance to disease, road salt, and heat; standard slug and deer precautions are advisable in areas where these pests are prevalent.
