Overview

Registered in 2000, *Hosta* 'Rosedale Streaked Zipper' is a large, variegated cultivar resulting from a hybrid of *H.* 'RD-BS'. Its most distinctive feature is the streaked pattern on the leaf margins, which contrasts with the leaf center to create a zipper-like visual effect along the blade edges.

In the Garden

This cultivar reaches mature dimensions of approximately 9 inches (22.9 cm) in leaf length and 8 inches (20.3 cm) in leaf width, forming a substantial clump suitable for mid-border or woodland garden positions. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its large size makes it less suitable for container culture than smaller cultivars.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture during the growing season, applying a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage and may require protective measures in areas where these pests are prevalent.
