Overview
Registered in 1999, this large hosta cultivar was developed from the cross of *H.* 'RD-BSS-92' (pod parent) and *H.* 'RD-BS-1' (pollen parent). Its leaves are green with yellow margins, creating a distinct bicolor effect that is characteristic of many gold-margined hostas.
In the Garden
With an upright growth habit and mature leaves reaching 9 inches (22.9 cm) in length and 8 inches (20.3 cm) in width, 'Rosedale Golden Lining' forms a substantial clump suitable for mid-border or woodland garden positions. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its large size makes it inappropriate for container culture.
Care Notes
Water regularly to maintain consistent soil moisture, particularly during dry periods. Apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Slugs and deer may cause damage; monitor and manage as needed in typical hosta-growing zones.
