Overview

Registered in 1999, *Hosta* 'Rosedale Genevieve' is a large, upright cultivar resulting from a cross between *H.* 'Galaxy' (pod parent) and *H.* 'Sum and Substance' (pollen parent). It is visually distinctive for its blue-green leaves with wide, golden yellow margins and a dull upper surface contrasting with a glaucous bloom beneath.

In the Garden

This cultivar forms a substantial clump reaching 30 inches (76.2 cm) in height and 52 inches (132.1 cm) in diameter at maturity, with an upright growth habit. It performs best in partial to full shade, as is typical for blue-leaved hostas, where the leaf color remains truest. Its large size makes it suitable as a specimen or background plant in shaded borders, and it pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials.

Care Notes

Water regularly to maintain consistent moisture, especially during dry spells, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, it is susceptible to slug and deer damage; protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
