Overview

Registered in 1999 by Rosedale Gardens, this medium-sized hosta is distinguished by its blue-green leaves with streaked margins and a glaucous bloom on the undersides. The upright, moderate-growing plant reaches 22 inches (55.9 cm) in height and 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter, with leaves measuring 8 inches (20.3 cm) long and 6 inches (15.2 cm) wide, each bearing 11 vein pairs and a cordate base.

In the Garden

‘Rosedale Daisy Mae’ performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and its upright habit makes it suitable for mid-border positions or as a specimen in woodland gardens. At maturity, it forms a clump roughly 3 feet across, providing a substantial presence without overwhelming smaller companions. The blue-green foliage pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other shade perennials, and the plant’s moderate growth rate allows for easy integration into mixed borders.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as the foliage may be susceptible to damage in shaded, moist conditions.
