Overview

Registered in 2010 by R. Kuenster of the American Hosta Society, this small hosta cultivar is distinguished by its medium green leaves with narrow, greenish-yellow margins and a pronounced wavy, twisted leaf blade with curled tips. The broadly ovate leaves, measuring 6.25 inches long and 4.5 inches wide with 8 to 10 vein pairs, exhibit a slightly shiny surface on both sides and a cordate base.

In the Garden

‘Robyn Duback’ forms a compact, mound-like clump reaching 14 inches in height and 30 inches in diameter, with a moderate growth rate suited to typical hosta-growing zones. It performs best in partial to full shade and pairs well with ferns, heucheras, and other small woodland perennials. Its small size makes it appropriate for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of shaded borders.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Standard slug and deer precautions are advisable, as with most hostas.
