Overview
Registered in 2009 by K. Walek, this small hosta cultivar is believed to be derived from a *Hosta sieboldii* type. It forms a compact, mound-like clump with elliptic, lightly wavy leaves that feature green margins and a variegated center, reaching 14 inches (35.6 cm) in height and 30 inches (76.2 cm) in diameter.
In the Garden
'Rippled Elf' performs best in partial to full shade, typical for variegated hostas, where its leaf coloration remains stable. Its small size makes it suitable for the front of borders, rock gardens, or container plantings. It pairs well with other small shade perennials such as ferns, heucheras, or dwarf astilbes.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most hostas, it may be susceptible to slug damage and deer browsing in garden settings.
