Overview
Registered in 1978 by P. Aden as a sport of an unnamed parent, *Hosta* 'Reversed' is a large cultivar distinguished by its green leaves with gold margins, a reversal of the typical gold-centered, green-margined pattern found in many related sports. The leaves measure 12 inches (30.5 cm) long and 9 inches (22.9 cm) wide, with 13 vein pairs and yellow-green margins.
In the Garden
'Reversed' reaches a mature diameter of 36 inches (91.4 cm) and a height of 30 inches (76.2 cm), making it suitable as a specimen or in mixed borders. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for hostas, and pairs well with ferns, astilbes, and other shade-tolerant perennials. Its large size limits container suitability to very large pots.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like most large-leaved hostas, 'Reversed' is susceptible to slug and deer damage; monitor regularly and manage as needed.
