Overview

A sport of *Hosta* 'Fortunei Hyacinthina' registered in 1993, 'Revelations' is a medium-sized cultivar distinguished by its variegated foliage. The leaves present a light green center with medium green margins, smooth texture, and a slight sheen on both surfaces, creating a muted but clear two-tone effect.

In the Garden

'Revelations' forms a clump reaching 22 inches (55.9 cm) in height and 36 inches (91.4 cm) in diameter, with individual leaves 8 inches (20.3 cm) long and 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) wide. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical of most hostas, and is well-suited to mid-border positions or as a groundcover beneath deciduous trees. The rounded leaf base and 8 to 9 vein pairs give the foliage a substantial, well-proportioned appearance. Companion plants such as ferns, heucheras, or shade-tolerant grasses complement its muted variegation.

Care Notes

Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. Like many hostas, 'Revelations' is susceptible to slug and deer damage, so protective measures may be necessary in areas where these pests are prevalent.
