Overview
Registered in 1983 by S. Moldovan, *Hosta* 'Rembrandt Blue' is a large, upright sport distinguished by its blue-green leaves with dark blue margins. The foliage reaches 11 inches (27.9 cm) in length and 10 inches (25.4 cm) in width, forming a substantial mound 52 inches (132.1 cm) in diameter and 27 inches (68.6 cm) in height.
In the Garden
This cultivar performs best in partial to full shade, where its blue coloration is most pronounced. Its large, upright habit makes it suitable as a specimen or in the middle to back of shaded borders, where it pairs well with ferns, *Heuchera*, and other shade-tolerant perennials. The scape reaches 34 inches (86.4 cm) in height, bearing flowers typical of the genus.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, particularly during dry periods, and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many large-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur and should be managed through cultural or physical controls.
