Overview
Registered in 2008 by D. Van Eechaute, *Hosta* 'Regal Supreme' is a sport of *Hosta* 'Krossa Regal' distinguished primarily by its significantly broader creamy white leaf margins—1.5 inches (3.8 cm) wide—compared to other sports of the parent. The large, upright clump produces ovate, slightly folded leaves that are blue-green with a glaucous bloom on both surfaces, contrasting with the flat, creamy white margins.
In the Garden
'Regal Supreme' forms a substantial, upright mound reaching approximately 28 inches (71 cm) in height and 43 inches (109 cm) in diameter, with a moderate growth rate. It performs best in partial to full shade, typical for blue-leaved hostas, where the glaucous bloom and margin contrast are most pronounced. Its large size and upright habit make it suitable as a specimen or in the middle to back of a shaded border; companion plants could include ferns, *Heuchera*, or *Astilbe*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture, especially during dry periods, and apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with many broad-leaved hostas, slug and deer damage may occur; monitor and manage as needed.
