Overview
Registered in 2009, *Hosta* 'Raspatini' is a miniature variegated cultivar resulting from a cross between *Hosta* 'Raspberry Sorbet' (pod parent) and *Hosta* 'Shining Tot' (pollen parent). Its visual distinction lies in the combination of medium green leaf margins with a glossy upper surface and a very dense, compact mound form.
In the Garden
*Hosta* 'Raspatini' forms a mound approximately 9 inches (22.9 cm) in diameter and 4 inches (10.2 cm) in height, with a notably fast growth rate for its size class. It is suitable for shaded or partially shaded positions in typical hosta-growing zones, where its small, dense habit makes it an excellent choice for rock gardens, troughs, or the front of borders. The miniature dimensions also render it well-suited for container cultivation, where it pairs effectively with other small perennials such as *Heuchera* or *Tiarella*.
Care Notes
Provide consistent moisture during the growing season and apply a balanced fertilizer in early spring as new growth emerges. As with most hostas, slug and deer damage may occur, though the small, dense foliage may offer some reduction in vulnerability compared to larger-leaved cultivars.
